About me
I'm Amy and my passion is to share my learning about mental health and wellbeing with others through offering individual counselling sessions and by creating tools and resources to support you outside of the counselling room.
I qualified as an integrative counsellor in 2023, and since then I have supported clients dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, an a lost sense of self.
In 2026 I completed my Level 5 training as. Gestalt Specialist, meaning I focus on the therapeutic relationship and use interventions such as challenge, parts work and empty chair to help clients to rediscover their sense of wholeness.
I continue to invest in my own skills through further training to ensure that my knowledge and skills are up-to-date and relevant to the clients I am working with.
My Story
I grew up in South Devon and thanks to being close to Totnes, established an interest in holistic health from an early age (even doing my first work-experience placement at a natural health centre). After studying Sociology and Social Policy at University in Leeds, I ended up spending nearly 10 years living in Japan - where I developed an interest in meditation , mindfulness and learning more about the impact of nature on mental health. Throughout this time my career focussed on supporting non-native English speakers to communicate their needs, hopes and fears - which helped me to hone my listening skills through reflection, intuition and interpretation.
These days I support my own mental health by trying to live in alignment with seasons and cycles, and also enjoy being part of a cold-water sea-swimming group as a way to self-regulate and feel part of a community.
I am a registered member of the BACP and hold a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling alongside a Level 5 Specialist Diploma in Gestalt.
